The Abia State Government in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Abia Command, has seized a large quantity of hard drugs and arrested an alleged master drug lord, Adaobi Nweke and other hard drug peddlers in a joint operation. Operation in Umuahia.

Addressing journalists after the operation, the Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, thanked the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for the successful operation.
He said the Abia State government was committed to eradicating all forms of crime, describing drugs as all criminal activities.
The deputy governor said Abia is not a haven for criminals and warned all drug addicts and other criminals in the state to move or face arrest.
“Abia is not a safe haven for any criminals. To all drug addicts, the instructions of the governor of Abia state are very clear, stay away from Abia state, we don't need you. You are not part of the development of the state. Medicines cannot develop Abia's state. We want our youths to be safe and very useful to Abia State Government. Drugs are the basis of all criminal activities that can be carried out by any group. “

Mr. Alajemba, who further disclosed that the operatives also raided around the popular Downbelow Hotel also in Umuahia, said the state government has declared war on drugs and all forms of crime in the state.
He commended the NDLEA for its support and disclosed that the war on drugs in the state is still ongoing and advised drug peddlers to stop immediately.
