National player Satou Sabally has received another award for her strong season in the WNBA. The 25-year-old from Berlin was elected to the All-WNBA First Team, the best women’s basketball league in the world announced on Sunday.

Sabally was previously named the player who improved the most last season. No basketball player from Germany has received both awards before her.

Sabally averaged 18.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the Dallas Wings. She was among the top ten in the league in terms of both points and rebounds.

Top three MVP votes make the All-WNBA First Team

This makes Sabally one of the five best players of the 2023 season in the eyes of a panel consisting of 60 basketball journalists who voted on the two All-WNBA teams. In addition to the Berliner, MVP Breanna Stewart (New York Liberty), Alyssa Thomas (Connecticut Sun), A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) and Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx) to the First Team.

The first three named, also the top three in the MVP voting, were each elected unanimously. Sabally received a total of 18 All-WNBA First Team votes and 32 All-WNBA Second Team votes. With a total of 186 points, it was still enough for a nomination to the All-WNBA First Team.
