FIFA rankings: 'We are proud' – Sports Minister reacts as Super Eagles move 14 places

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria for climbing 14 places in the latest FIFA men's rankings released on Thursday.

DAILY POST reports that the Super Eagles are now ranked 28th in the world.

The 2023 AFCON runners-up are also now ranked the third best team in Africa.

Only Morocco, which is the highest ranked country on the continent, and Senegal (second place) are ahead of Nigeria.

Egypt and Ivory Coast complete Africa's top five.

Reacting, Enoh, in a tweet through his X account, urged the Super Eagles to keep up the good work, adding that he is proud of their achievements.

“Congratulations to the Super Eagles of Nigeria for climbing 14 places in the FIFA rankings,” he tweeted.

“You've gone from 42nd to 28th, which is your highest ranking in 16 years since 2008.

“We are proud of your achievements and hope you continue to soar. Keep up the good work dear Super Eagles of Nigeria.”
