The EA Sports League continues with Matchday 9, a week before all the teams rest due to the national team break. The most notable match of the day was played this Sunday at the Metropolitan Stadium between Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad, in what was a direct duel for Champions League positions. The colchoneros were victorious thanks to a penalty correctly converted by Griezmann in the final minutes. Real Madrid reaffirmed its league lead by beating Osasuna at home, with a double from Bellingham. Finally, FC closed the day with a draw in Granada that leaves the team behind in the dispute for the top of the standings.

Villarreal – UD Las Palmas (1-2)

UD Las Palmas achieved a great result during their visit to Villarreal, which catapulted them up the league table and moved them away from the relegation zone. The Canary Islands team took the lead at La Cerámica with a goal from Guinean centre-back Saúl Coco and then Marc Cardona extended the lead with a well-taken penalty, which the VAR had confirmed a few minutes earlier. Granada and FC Barcelona have tied in Los Cármenes. Bryan Zaragoza put the hosts ahead in the first seconds of the match and extended the lead a few minutes later. Lamine Yamal closed the gap for the Blaugrana before the break, becoming the youngest scorer in La Liga history, and Sergi Roberto tied the match at the end for the Blaugrana. With this result, those led by Xavi fall to third position and fall behind in the dispute for the top of the championship. The draw also does not help Granada to get out of the relegation zone.

Cadiz – Girona (0-1)

Sevilla – Rayo Vallecano (2-2)

Sevilla rescued a point against Rayo Vallecano in the last play of the match thanks to an excellent header from En-Nesyri. It was the final 2-2 in a match where Rayo went 0-2 in the first half as Francisco Rodríguez’s men took advantage of the Andalusian team’s defensive weakness. Óscar Valentín and Álvaro scored for Rayo, much more in tune and faster than a stuck rival. The first goal came after a glaring error by the Andalusian team’s defense, where Sergio Ramos was not present. Álvaro, who scored again in Nervión, had a highway on his side to chip the ball to Nyland in the second. José Luis Mendilibar took Fernando off the field in the 37th minute and the Brazilian, leader of the locker room, made the change ugly and did not greet him. Rakitic came in and Sevilla improved.
