1. FC Nürnberg wanted to use the international break to give some players match practice. One of them was Joseph Hungbo. The new signing played for 56 minutes in the test with the regional league team TSV Buch, but then had to be substituted injured.
One day and extensive examinations at the Nuremberg South Hospital later, the bitter diagnosis was made: the 23-year-old had suffered a partial tear of his adductor tendon. The club did not provide any information about downtime.
Already the second failure
After two starting eleven appearances at the beginning of the season, the winger had already had to sit out two league and one cup games after a “hit on the knee”. Hungbo was only substituted on again on matchday 5 in a 3-1 defeat at Kaiserslautern. Most recently, the winger was in the Franconian squad twice without playing.
Hungbo is likely to miss a few games again this time and will undergo surgery at the beginning of next week.
