Joshua Kimmich should once again become the central figure for the new national coach, and the FC Bayern midfielder should direct the DFB team’s game on the six. It is not yet clear whether he will do this on Saturday in the first test match on the USA trip.
Kimmich was missing from training in Foxborough. The 28-year-old from FC Bayern was only there as a spectator at the well-kept facility of the MLS club New England Revolution; he was unable to take part due to mild cold symptoms. Kimmich followed the training session that Nagelsmann completed with the 25 other players in his squad.
On Saturday Nagelsmann will celebrate his debut as national coach in Hartford against the USA, whether with Kimmich remains to be seen. For the Bayern professional it would be the 81st appearance for the German national team.
