In just under 23 minutes of playing time, he scored 23 points for the San Antonio Spurs in a 120:104 win against the Miami Heat. The Frenchman sank ten of his 15 throw attempts, was his team’s best scorer and thrilled the spectators with several impressive dunkings.

“I’m really learning a lot and trying to expand my defensive skills,” said Wembanyama after the game: “We still have a lot to learn about ourselves and our teammates, but we’re on the right track.” In the next preseason game, Wembanyama and the Spurs will face the Houston Rockets on Monday (2 a.m. CEST).

He is expected to make his NBA debut on October 25th in the home game against the Dallas Mavericks with superstar Luka Doncic and the German Maxi Kleber.
