seven players Manchester United could be without for Chelsea
Chelsea welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge on Sunday as the Blues look to keep their place at the top of the Premier League table.
Emphatic wins against Leicester and Juventus made this past week one to remember for Chelsea fans, although injuries to Ben Chilwell and N’Golo Kante took off some of the gloss.
He confirmed that Luke Shaw and Fred were the latest players to join the club’s injured or suspended players.
“We’ve got two or three different little issues that we’re waiting to see how the boys come through. It’s never ideal, you want a full squad to pick from but there are one or two we’re waiting on,” the former midfielder told his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“Luke took a bang on the head and was concussed three weeks ago and he took a bang against Watford. We assessed him during the week and will make a call on how he is
“Fred twisted his ankle the other night, he managed to carry on, which was pretty incredible, to be honest, seeing the game out and playing a big part in winning the game for us. We’ll have to see how that settles down.
“There are one or two others as well. But we’ll be strong tomorrow travelling down.”
While their absence is yet to be confirmed there seems to be a good chance the clash will have to be played without the pair.
Harry Maguire will miss the match after picking up a red card during the humbling 4-1 defeat to Watford last weekend, which lead to the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Raphael Varane’s absence continues to be absent with a hamstring injury as well, leaving Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof as the default defensive duo.
Edinson Cavani (tendons) and Paul Pogba (thigh) will not be free to cause Chelsea’s defence any problems either while it remains to be seen whether Mason Greenwood will be available after missing the Watford clash with Covid.
